Next month will see the release of a book on the history of the Australian lotfeeding industry, at the Beefex 2014 conference on the Gold Coast. The book, “Grainfed: The history of the Australian feedlot industry”, will feature interviews with some of the most influential people within the industry. Stockyard’s chairman, Robin Hart AM, worked closely with the book’s authors in providing his own story, and relished the chance to add to the colourful history of the early days of lotfeeding in Australia. In the above interview, Robin details the importance of building an accurate record of such a diverse industry and his view that the actions of those in the lotfeeding industry have had both direct and indirect effects on related industries, such as cattle breeders, grain farmers, and transport providers.
