Stockyard Beef named Champion at Sydney Royal Fine Food Show

Stockyard Beef is delighted to announce it has been awarded the coveted Champion Branded Meat as well as the Champion Beef medals at the 2024 Sydney Royal Fine Food Awards.

kiwami by Stockyard, was crowned ‘Australia’s best’ after trumping 33 other branded beef entries from across the country. With a total score of 94.17, nearly two full points ahead of the next brand, kiwami by Stockyard secured the highest points for the competition.

Boasting marble scores of 9 plus, kiwami by Stockyard provides diners with the most decadent eating experience. These cattle are derived from industry leading wagyu genetics and fed a nutritionally designed, all-natural grain ration at Stockyard’s Kerwee Feedlot on the Darling Downs in Queensland.

As producers, we rarely get the chance to directly see the enjoyment of our product, whether it’s served in a restaurant or at home. So, awards like these give us the confidence that we’re consistently delivering an exceptional product that meets the mark,” said Stockyard’s General Manager of Sales, David Clark.

“And winning the Sydney Royal Champion Branded Meat – one of the most hotly contested awards – is incredibly humbling.

“Products that bear these medals are the best of the best. Nothing is more humbling than the opportunity to compete with many other fine food producers, whether that’s dairy, beef or wine, we’re all striving to be better each and every year.”

Stockyard’s enduring success in awards and consistent quality is due in part to their focus on genetics, whether through investing in their breeding herd or collaborating with top producers, in this case long-standing producers in the Christiansen Family of Pinnacle Wagyu, who provide high-performing genetics and align with Stockyard’s commitment to sustainable beef production.

Stockyard also secured a silver medal for Stockyard Black reserved for Wagyu products achieving a marble score 8-9. While, Stockyard Gold, the organisation’s 200 day long-fed product won bronze in the Grain-Fed Class.

“Competitions like the Sydney Royal are vital to the Australian food and beverage industry as they allow producers to benchmark their products against industry standards, which then helps drive product quality.

“I am proud to say that this year there was strong competition across all categories, particularly in branded meat where 98% of entrants won a gold, silver, or bronze medal. In recent years, the industry has seen a focus on sustainability, productivity and better management practices, and we are really seeing this reflected in the high quality of meat that Australia is producing.” said Sydney Royal Fine Food Committee Chair, Michael Bullen.

Stockyard has been entering the Sydney Royal Branded Beef competition since their inception in 2005, and since then, has proudly been awarded 41 medals. Stockyard was also named a finalist last year for the prestigious President’s Medal which assesses excellence not just of the product but also across environmental, social and governance attributes.
